Jim is back
Cyclops is delighted to welcome back Jim Small, the person who first developed our yoghurts way back in 1988. Today’s range of premium products all owe their origins to Jim’s invention of recipe and process.

When he started Cyclops Jim was charged with enthusiasm for making better yoghurt than what was available in New Zealand at the time. Coming from outside the dairy industry allowed him to innovate at an artisan level and effectively create the first premium yoghurt. Some of his early innovations were, thicker, Greek style yoghurt, fruit on top and transparent packaging. In the early 90’s Cyclops introduced the first genuine strained Greek yoghurt to the market.
Jim says the reason he is so happy to be back with Cyclops after a few years away is because of the new team that is in place. He says, “the food industry is about more than simply making the best quality product. It requires a lot of other skills and disciplines. The team in place now are highly skilled in what they do which allows me to concentrate on the product and the processes – as I have always loved to do. It’s my dream job!”

✨Yoghurt Granola Bark✨
A delicious and healthy summer snack, this yoghurt granola bark is easy to make and perfect for those hot summer days. Great for making with kids, it`s a fun way to enjoy different flavour combinations. Choose from Berry & Pistachio, Vanilla Bean & Banana Chocolate, or Apple Crumble, or get creative with your own twist!
-Base ingredients-
▪️1 ½ cups vanilla granola
▪️2 tbsp honey or maple syrup (optional)
-Flavour variations-
🍓 Berry & Pistachio
▪️350g Cyclops Mixed Berry Greek Yoghurt
▪️120g fresh mixed berries (raspberries, blueberries, strawberries), halved if large
▪️50g pistachios, roughly chopped
🍌Vanilla Bean, Banana & Chocolate
▪️350g Cyclops Lactose-Free Vanilla Yoghurt (or Cyclops Vanilla Bean Greek Yoghurt)
▪️50g banana chips, crushed slightly
▪️80g dark chocolate, melted
🍏Apple Crumble
▪️350g Cyclops Apple & Cinnamon Greek Yoghurt
▪️50g dried apple slices, roughly chopped
▪️50g pecans, roughly chopped
▪️1 tbsp brown sugar mixed with ¼ tsp cinnamon
-Method -
▪️Line a tray with baking paper. Spread the yoghurt evenly out over the paper, making sure it’s roughly 0.5-1cm thick.
▪️Sprinkle granola over the yoghurt, then add your chosen toppings, lightly pressing them in. Drizzle with honey or maple syrup if using.
▪️Place the tray in the freezer for at least 3 hours until firm.
▪️Once frozen, break into pieces and enjoy. Yoghurt bark keeps well in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 2 weeks.
